Saw the comment earlier, it looked like a spambot to me, I'd advise setting the "Show word verification for comments?" setting to "Yes". That generally fixes this kind of problem.
Mark - if you wish to set up your own blog just so the porno spam- bots can put in porno-links to build their google page rank - well feel free to do so. No big brother preventing you from doing so at all. A porno-Tory blog would be right in line with Tory tradition! ;-)
jams o'donnell - I did used to have word verification on, but I allowed anonymous comments and did not moderate. The spam has continued despite me enabling moderation. It's either a bot that can get past word verification, or someone with too much time on their hands who thinks it's funny targetting Labour blogs. It's a nuisance, as am busy at the moment, and don't always have time to go through comments.

ReplyDeleteI did get something in excess of 500 bits of spam comment yesterday but I think that is a coincidence.
ReplyDeleteHope so anyway, or I will have to send the boys round with a baseball bat!
I am surprised you have survived so long without moderation enabled.
I cross my fingers I haven't had that experience yet.
ReplyDeletewas the porn any good?
ReplyDeleteNo offers for "hairy sex" yet then?
ReplyDeleteQuite a classic.
It's no fun with comment moderation enabled, always smacks of big brother to me.
ReplyDeleteLuckily they haven't come my way. I'm sorry you've had to enable moderation. I can't remember. Did you have the password function on beforehand?
